LDV, the exclusive design and decor platform targets fashion collaboration

Published
Aug 22, 2023

Launched in Los Angeles last December, LDV, the members-only online platform dedicated to design and decor founded by the duo Birta Ólafsdóttir and Guido Callarelli, is showing its selection of unique furniture pieces for the first time in Los Angeles, in its first pop-up running until mid-October at 156 South Robertson Boulevard.

Ólafsdóttir, originally from Iceland is a creative director and curator in interior design. She collaborated with several design companies such as Bjarke Ingels Group, Nordic Office of Architecture and Snohetta before joining forces with Callarelli, founder of the successful design brand agency FAM, known for its collaborations with Off-White, Fear of God, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Supreme, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Garage magazine.

At LDV, the duo present a cutting-edge online curation of furniture sourced from all over Europe, focusing on renowned European designers and American designers from the Art Deco and 70s era. At the heart of their concept is a VIP-reserved access to preview and purchase their collection.

In addition to the online site, LDV has refined its strategy by launching its first physical pop-up. The pieces featured in the store include a Karl Springer bed from the 70's, Romeo Rega dining set, Massimo Vignelli sofa set and Willy Rizzo coffee table.

"The idea is to launch more pop-ups around the world in different settings; a house; a bar; a public space; and so on," says Ólafsdóttir. "For each pop-up, we'll be looking for syngergies with other brands and artists or creatives to display their products in the pop-up, like this time we partnered with Cander Paris, a luxury candle brand."

In addition to the pop-up, LDV has been collaborating for several months with Just One Eye, the Sycamore Avenue fashion institution founded by Paola Russo. "Vintage furniture and antiques have always been my passion, and the LDV concept appealed to me, especially thanks to my team of trusted buyers at Just One Eye, who consistently bring in fresh, unique pieces," says Russo. "I've become more open to exploring furniture, not only because it fits my passion, but also because of the increased interest from customers after the impact of COVID. We've experienced a resurgence of attention, both locally and globally."

At the Just One Eye boutique, the furniture chosen by LDV features pieces by Jacques Adnet, Edgard Brandt and an original French Art Déco armchair and footstool from the 30's. These pieces will join a wider selection of furniture in the boutique including items by Pierre Jeanneret, Ron Arad and Charlotte Perriand.

LDV's founders will continue to target high-end and unexpected collaborations. "Our aim is to continue fusing the world of design with fashion and lifestyle," concludes Ólafsdóttir.
